Lincoln, NE-- Rams Baseball would travel down to Lincoln, Nebraska to face the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves. They have a three game series spanning over Sunday and Monday, starting off with a double header today. They would drop game one 36-1 and game two 16-5.
Game One:
Michael Escalante would start for the North Central Rams and the game wouldn't start off in their favor. The flood gates would open, and Nebraska Wesleyan would pour on eight runs in the first inning. They would add on eight more runs by the end of the third.
Mike Maanum would hit a double to center field and move to third a few pitches after on a passed ball.
Maanum would score on an error from second base, giving North Central their only run in the first game of the double header. This would be the only bright spot for the Rams as the Prairie Wolves would score twenty more runs by the end of the game. Final from game one was 1-36.
Game two:
Jon Roberts started game two on the mound for the Rams and they would forget about the previous game. They would score first in the top of the second thanks to two hits from
Teagan Burch and
Chris Garza. North Central would give up a run in the bottom of the second, but
Kyle Huerth would hit a solo home run to get that run back. The Rams gave up eight runs in the bottom of the third and couldn't catch up to the Prairie Wolves. They would try to mount a comeback in the fourth scoring two more runs from hits by
Roberts and
Nate Boyer. More runs from Nebraska Wesleyan in the fifth and sixth were too much as they would end the game in the seventh inning 5-16.
Key Performers:
- Kyle Huerth (Moorpark, CA) went 2-5 on the day with a home run and three hit-by pitches in both games.
- Chris Garza (San Antonio, TX) had a hit with an RBI in game two for the Rams.
Looking Ahead: The Rams will play game three of their away stand against Nebraska Wesleyan University tomorrow (3/20) at 11am CST.
