Fort Meyers, FL -- North Central University's (NCU) Baseball team had signs of life during their game against the Rhode Island College Anchormen. Pitching struggles continue to haunt the team as ten total hits wasn't enough to propel the Rams to victory. This team is trending in the right direction and continuing to get better.
Michael Escalante would pitch five total innings in his start today giving up a total of eight runs. NCU's defense improved from yesterday only giving up one run in the first and playing clean baseball until the fourth inning. The Anchormen would pile on five runs to start the fourth but The Blue and Gold wouldn't go down without a fight. After
Mike Maanum was hit by a pitch and moving into scoring position,
Julian Diaz would knock him in with a single. That run would open the flood gates for the Rams bats.
Jon Roberts smacked a double and
Diaz would score.
Kyle Huerth followed it up with a single and an RBI.
Daniel Montana hit a moonshot of a home run cutting the lead to one by the end of the fourth. Pitching struggles would end up costing the Rams as Rhode Island College would stack on six more runs in the top of the sixth. More runs on several hits for the Anchormen would ruin any chance of the comeback for the North Central University. In the bottom of the seventh
Montana would hit his second home run of the game to make it 6-13.
Huerth would hit a double in the eighth, but no rally would happen as NCU would lose the game 7-17.
