Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Loses Both Games in Conference Opener

Roseville, MN -- Rams softball started their UMAC season against Northwestern University (Eagles). They only tallied five hits in the two games played. North Central only scored one run in the two combined games.

Game 1 Recap:

Carla Mendoza started Game One on the mound and Northwestern jumped on her quickly. They scored two quick runs in the first, then 13 in the bottom of the second. It was more of the same for the NCU defense as they would give up three more runs by the end of the third making the score 18-0. Delaney Riddle hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning. This was the Rams' only run on the day. The game would end in 5 innings as Northwestern would win 18-1.

Game 2 Recap:

Mendoza started game two also and it was more of the same for the Rams' defense. The Eagles would continue to hit the ball well and score runs. North Central would have three singles in the game. One came from Mendoza in the second inning. The other two were back-to-back hits from Angela Orozco and Maci Tripp in the top of the third inning. Northwestern's offense proved to be too much as they would go on to win 22-0 in five innings.

Key Performers:

  • Delaney Riddle (Lake Stevens, WA) had a home run with the team's only RBI on the day.
  • Carla Mendoza (Ridgecrest, CA) tallied 2 hits on the day.
