Roseville, MN -- North Central University's Softball team played two more games today in the UMAC crossover, game one against the Northland College Lumberjills, and game two was against UW-Superior Yellowjackets. The first game was against Northland College and they lost 24-7. In game two against UW-Superior, they would score one run in a 19-1 loss.
Game 1 Recap:
Carla Mendoza would pitch game one for the Rams. North Centrals' offense would start strong with a lead-off double from Angela Orozco. Maci Tripp would advance her to third with a single of her own. Catcher Aurora Prettyman would knock Orozco in with a ground ball to the Shortstop, and Tripp would score on the next batter from a past ball. The defense would give up 18 runs in the first inning, making the game 18-2. The bats would wake up a little bit in the top of the third thanks to a two run home run from Delaney Riddle. Northland would pile on the runs and score six more in the bottoms of the third and fourth innings. In the top of the fifth, Orozco would hit a single and reach second on an error, and Tripp would hit another single, and steal a base setting up the Rams with runners on second and third. Riddle would hit her third RBI on the day with a single. Mendoza would get a single of her own, scoring Tripp. Sophie Anderson would follow with another single and an RBI but would be thrown out trying to advance to second base. The final from game one was 24-7 in five innings, in favor of Northland College.
Game 2 Recap:
Mendoza started game two also and the defense would continue to struggle in the early innings. They would surrender 13 runs in the top of the first inning and would give up five more in the top of the second, making the score 18-0 by the bottom of the second inning. NCU would score their only run in the bottom of the second. Prettyman and Mendoza would hit back-to-back singles. After a fielder's choice, Kailey Trim hit a line drive single to right field scoring Mendoza. UW-Superior would score one more run in the top of the fifth. Game two ended in five innings with a score of 19-1.
Key Performer:
- Delaney Riddle (Lake Stevens, WA) had four hits, including a home run, tallying three RBIs in the two games.
- Angela Orozco (Los Angeles, CA) went 3-3 in game one scoring two runs.
- Aurora Prettyman (Portland, OR) had three hits and an RBI on the day.
- Maci Tripp (Waupaca, WI) had a total of two hits, and would score three total runs.
Looking Ahead:
NCU Softball will travel to Morris, to face off against The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars in a doubleheader starting at 11:30 AM.
