Game Recap: Baseball |

Rams Baseball Drops Both Games in Mauston

Mauston, WI-- Rams Baseball traveled down to Mauston, WI to finish up their three-game series against the Northland Lumberjacks. NCU would score seven total runs on the day. However, with that not being enough to secure a victory in either game, the Rams fall to 0-3 in conference play so far this season.

Game One:

Cole Graham started game one for the Rams. Northland would score three total runs in the first two innings of the game. In the top of the fourth inning, the Rams would start to awaken the bats. First-year Ram, Michael Escalante would start the inning off with a single to center field, and Kyle Huerth would be hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second. Teagan Burch would hit a ball to right field and he would bring in both runs with a triple. NCU would score another run thanks to a sacrifice fly from Casey Welsh. This would tie the game at three. The Lumberjacks would go on to score ten more runs in the few next innings and game one would end with a score of 13-3, in favor of Northland.

Game Two:

Christian Rodriguez got the call on the mound for game two. The game would move quickly and Northland would be up 5-0 by the end of the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Daniel Montana would put the first run on the board with his third home run of the season. Nate Boyer would reach first on an error, then Mike Maanum would hit a double to center, scoring Boyer. Two more walks for the Rams would set them up with bases loaded. Burch would hit a single to left center which scored two more for the Blue and Gold. They would end the inning by scoring four and cutting the lead to one. Northland would score four more by the end of the game, winning the game 9-4.

Key Performers:

  • Teagan Burch (St. Paul, MN) went 4-8 on the day with four RBIs. One of those hits was a triple.
  • Daniel Montana (Tucson, AZ) tallied his third home run for the season.

Looking Ahead: North Central Baseball will make their home debut against the University of Minnesota Morris on Thursday, April 6th, at 10 am.
