Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Suffers Two Losses Against Bethany Lutheran

Mankato, MN -- NCU Softball Traveled to Mankato to face off against The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings. The Rams would play as the home team even with the far traveled distance. North Central couldn't catch up to the hot bats of Bethany and would go on to lose both games in the doubleheader.

Game 1 Recap:

Carla Mendoza started game one on the mound for NCU and the first inning started off great holding the Vikings to no runs. North Central would have a quiet bottom half of the inning. Bethany Lutheran would score 17 in the top of the second inning, taking a huge lead. They would add on three more in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, North Central would draw three straight walks from Angela Orozco, Maci Tripp, and Delaney Riddle. Mendoza would rip a single into left field, scoring the only run for the Rams. NCU would get a few more hits that wouldn't lead to more runs in later innings. Bethany Lutheran would take game one 20-1 in five innings.

Game 2 Recap:

Katrina Diaz got the call for the Rams in game two. The first inning did not go NCU's way as The Vikings would score seven by the end of the first. They would keep piling the runs on the Rams and bring their lead to 19 by the end of the fourth inning. In the Bottom of the fourth, Tripp would break up the perfect game with a single up the middle. She would also end up stealing second and third. Kailey Trim got the second hit for the Rams in the bottom of the fifth but it wouldn't amount to anything as the Rams would drop game two 19-0 in five innings.

Key Performers:

  • Carla Mendoza (Ridgecrest, CA) went perfect at the plate with one hit, one RBI, and one walk.
  • Angela Orozco (Los Angeles, CA) had a hit and scored a run.
  • Maci Tripp (Waupaca, WI) had one hit and two stolen bases on the day.
