Roseville, MN -- NCU Softball hosted two home games against the Northland College Lumberjills. They played both games at Northwestern University. North Central scored two runs on the day. They scored one in game one and one in game two.
Game 1 Recap:
Delaney Riddle started game one for NCU. After giving up one in the top of the first inning, North Central got a baserunner off a walk, but nothing would happen from it. Northland would score four more runs in the second, bringing their lead to five. They would score more runs in the innings to follow. By the middle of the fourth, the score would be 12-0. Riddle would lead off the inning with a solo home run, scoring their only run on the day. The game would end in five innings with a score of 16-1 in favor of the Lumberjills.
Game 2 Recap:
Katrina Diaz went to the mound for game two for the Rams and Northland scored ten in their half of the first inning. They would score 18 total runs by the middle of the fourth inning. Ariana Barrett started off the bottom of the fourth with a single to right field. Aurora Prettyman would draw a walk and put a runner in scoring position. Katelynn Fox came in to pinch run for Prettyman. Diaz would step up to the plate and hit a double to right field scoring Barrett and advancing Fox to third. NCU would fail to bring in the runner from third. The Blue and Gold would fail to do more in the bottom of the fifth. The final for game two was 18-1 in favor of Northland.
Key Performers:
- Delaney Riddle (Lake Stevens, WA) went 1-1 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI in game one.
- Katrina Diaz (Gaylord, MN) had a double with an RBI.
Looking Ahead:
North Central's Softball will head to Morris on Friday, April 28th to play a single game against The University of Northwestern. The first pitch will be at 2 PM.
