Rams Suffer Tough Loss in Game One, Game Two Called Due to Weather

Mankato, MN -- North Central University's (NCU) Baseball team traveled to Mankato to square off with the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings. The Rams would outhit the Vikings but would fail to produce from the hits. They had a doubleheader scheduled for the day, but game two was called because of the rain. 
 

The Rams would start the day with a single from Mike Maanum. He would steal second on the next batter, andDaniel Montana would hit a single up the middle, scoring Maanum and taking an early 1-0 lead. The Vikings scored a run to tie the game back up at one apiece. North Central would give up a run in the next two innings, before securing their second run in the top of the fourth. Teagan Burch singled to right field and Julian Encinas hit one of his own to put runners on first and second. After a sac bunt, Casey Welsh reached on an error, scoring Burch. The Rams brought the deficit to one. Bethany Lutheran would unload the bats and score five runs in the bottom of the fourth. They would continue to score and pile on a total of thirteen runs by the end of the sixth inning. NCU would fail to score more runs and the game would end 13-2 in seven innings.  

Key Performers:

  • Daniel Montana (Tucson, AZ) had the team's only RBI with a hit as well.
  • Julian Encinas (Tucson, AZ) keeps his hot bat alive with a 1-2 day.


Looking Ahead:

North Central Baseball will travel back to Mankato and finish up the year with a doubleheader, the first pitch for tomorrow is 10 AM.
