Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

The Rams Get Cut Down by the Lumberjacks in Ashland

Ashland, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) men's soccer continued their stint of road games as they traveled to Ashland, Wisconsin to take on the Northland College (NC) Lumberjacks. After falling to two of the top teams in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) to open conference play, the Rams would look to turn things around today against Northland. NCU would strike first in just the 14th minute of the game, however, the Lumberjacks would not allow NCU to score again for the rest of the game. Eventually, the Rams would fall with the final score being 4-1.

In the first half, freshman Rodrigo Burgos (South Saint Paul, MN) would draw a penalty kick in the 14th minute. He would capitalize by scoring the first goal of the game (3rd on the season), putting the Rams up 1-0. NCU would get off a total of five shots in the first half, with three of them being on target. The Lumberjacks would get seven shots off in the first half and score a total of two goals in the 31st and 33rd minutes of the game. Northland would go into halftime with a 2-1 lead over North Central.

The Lumberjacks were able to carry their momentum into the second half as they out-shot the Rams nine shots to two. Northland would score two goals in the 86th and 88th minutes of the game to give themselves a 4-1 lead over NCU. Penalties would prove costly for the Blue and Gold, as two of the Norland goals came off Penalty kicks. Sophomore Ulrich Mvogo (Virginia, MN) and senior captain Anthony Medina (Elk River, MN) would each record a shot in the second half, however, those would be the only two shots allowed by the Lumberjacks defense. Northland was able to shut down NCU's offensive attack in the second half and walked away with a 4-1 win.
