Minneapolis, MN -- After tying with the Lumberjills in Ashland, the North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team came home to Elliot Park Field today to host the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles. The Eagle's offensive onslaught began early in this one and continued throughout, as they would have 29 shots on goal to just 5 by NCU. The Rams were seeking their first win of the season but ended up falling short as they fell to the Eagles with a score of 8-0.
In the first half, the Eagle's offense took control of the game as they had 32 shots attempted in the first half. Rams goalie, Abigail Herbolsheimer (Tawas City, MI) would hold UNW to three goals in the first half. NCU would not be able to break through the UNW defense as they were held to just two shots off in the first half. As the clock ran out, the first half ended with UNW up 3-0 on the Rams.
In the second half, UNW rode their momentum and was even able to channel another gear offensively. The Eagles' offense scored 5 goals off of 26 shots in the second half. The Rams' continued to struggle against the UNW defense as they were only able to get 5 shots with 4 of them being off the foot of senior captain Kara Lewis (Mandeville, LA). The Eagles would stay in the driver's seat of this one, handing the Rams the 8-0 loss.
