NCU Falls in Road Matchup with UM-Morris

Morris, MN -- North Central University (NCU) women's soccer made the drive out to Morris to take on the University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) Cougars in hopes of securing their first win of the season. Starting goalkeeper Abigail Herbolsheimer (Tawas City, MI) would not suit up due to injury. The Rams would fall behind early and not gain any traction offensively. The Cougars would run away with this one, taking the 6-0 win over NCU.

Morris took control of the game early as they scored the first goal of the game in just the 5th minute of action. The Cougars would score a total of 5 goals off of 20 shots in the first half, giving them a comfortable 5-0 cushion. The Morris defense would hold the Rams to a total of three shots in the first half allowing zero goals. As time ran out, Minnesota Morris went into the break with a 5-0 lead.

In the second half, North Central put up a better effort as they were able to get 7 shots off while holding Morris to only 10 shots. In the 57th minute, the Cougars scored their 6th goal of the game to give themselves a 6-0 lead. Graduate student Kara Lewis (Mandeville, LA) would lead the team offensively with 6 shot attempts, 4 of those on target. Lindsey De Jong (St. Charles, MO) would start in net for NCU and record 2 saves in 20 minutes of action. Coming in for her first time in goal for the Rams, freshman Jessica Redman (Beaver Dam, WI) recorded 8 saves through 70 minutes in net.
