St. Bonifacius, MN -- Saturday night, the North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team traveled out to St. Bonifacius to take on the Polars of Crown College (CC). The Rams came into this one confident after picking up their first UMAC win of the season of the season over Northland on Wednesday. In a game that was seemingly even on the stats sheet, the Polars would walk away victorious with a score of 4-2.
Crown was able to take control of the game early as they scored in the first minute of the game. They would score again in the 32nd minute going up 2-0 on the Rams. NCU was able to respond in the 38th minute to cut the deficit to one on a goal by Alex Chacich (Hibbing,MN) for his 5th goal of the season, coming off an assist by Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE). However, the Polars were able to score again in the 41st minute of the game to put them up 3-1 to close out the half.
In the second half, the Rams got a few shots off early but none of them found the back of the net. Eventually, Lebsack was able to get around the Crown defense and score his 6th goal of the year in the 60th minute of the game to cut the Crown lead to just one. Unfortunately, Crown was able to score in the 69th minute giving themselves a 4-2 lead. The Polars' defense would hold as they would not allow the Rams to score another goal for the remainder of the game. As time ran out, Crown College would secure the 4-2 victory over NCU.
