Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

The Rams Get Stung by the Yellowjackets in Superior

Superior, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) volleyball team continued their road trip with a stop in Superior, Wisconsin to play the Yellowjackets from the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS). Coming off a 3-1 loss last night versus the North College Lumberjills, the Rams would look to bounce back with a win over UWS. Unfortunately, North Central would be defeated in three straight sets.

Set one was neck and neck, with the lead never surpassing two points until late. With the game knotted at 15-15, the Yellowjackets would close out the set on a 10-3 run to take the first set 25-18. The talented freshman Sydney Carlson (Blaine, MN), would lead the Rams with 4 kills in the first set. The second set would go Superior's way early, as the Jackets were able to open up a 9-3 lead quickly. Unable to contain the UWS attack, NCU would lose set two 25-17 and go down two sets to none. North Central would come out fighting in the third set, as freshman hitters Lola Huhta (Chisholm, MN), Cora Tippie (Rhome, TX), and Carlson all recorded kills to put themselves up 4-2. There would then be 4 lead changes as the team battled hard in the middle of the deciding set. The set would come down to the wire, but the Yellowjackets would ultimately win 25-22. Carlson continues her impressive freshman campaign with a 13 kill, 10 dig, and 1 ace performance. The Rams lost 3-0 in straight sets to Wisconsin-Superior.
