Minneapolis, MN – North Central University (NCU) Men's Soccer returned to Elliot Park Field to take on the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles. This is the second match this season where these two teams squared off. Previously, the Rams had an unfortunate 2-0 loss on the Eagles' home turf. This afternoon, the game ended uneventfully in a 0-0 draw. Freshman goalkeeper
Peyton Carselowey posted his third shutout of the year with 5 saves in net.
The first half did not see a lot of action from either team as there were only 7 total shots (1 SOG). NCU freshman
Sam Saye made two shot attempts, but unfortunately, both were off target. After a gritty, defensive-minded first half, the teams headed into the break tied 0-0.
In the second half, the Rams were very close to scoring the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute of action. Freshman
Kefeyen Tita put a header on goal that found the back of the net, but it would unfortunately be waived off due to an offside call. The offensive urgency picked up in the second half as there were 13 shots taken by UNW and 4 from NCU.
Peyton Carselowey shut out the Eagles with 5 saves on the afternoon. Subsequently, tonight's matchup against the Eagles resulted in a 0-0 tie.
Looking ahead:
The Rams will remain at home at Elliot Park Field to face off with the UW-Superior Yellowjackets this Tuesday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM.
