Minneapolis, MN – Today, the North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team stayed at home at Elliot Park Field to face the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) Yellowjackets. The Rams faced a challenge this afternoon as the visitors had an undefeated 10-0 conference record heading into the match. This was the second time these two teams faced each other. In their last meeting, UWS dealt NCU a humbling 8-0 loss. Today, North Central suffered another loss to UW-Superior with a final score of 6-0.
UWS opened the scoring early in the match with a goal after just nine minutes of play to take a 1-0 lead. Current UMAC Offensive Player of the Week,
Alvin Wlejleh, responded with two shot attempts, one of which was turned away by the UWS goalkeeper. The quick goal set the tone for the rest of the game, with UWS continuing to put pressure on NCU's defense. In the 17th minute, the Yellowjackets would sting again with their second goal of the outing to double their lead. UW-Superior totaled 15 shots (8 SOG) to just 4 (3 SOG) by North Central in the first half. Around the 30th minute of the match, the Yellowjackets would elect to rest a majority of their starting lineup. NCU goalkeeper
Trystin Procyk totaled 6 saves in the first 45 minutes as the Rams found themselves trailing 2-0.
The second half saw UWS clamp down defensively to limit NCU to just one total shot.
Peyton Carselowey took to North Central's goal and would be tested immediately with five shots from Superior's attack. NCU would be able to fend off the Yellowjackets for nearly 25 minutes of action before the visitors open the floodgates. In the 70th minute, UWS scored their first of four straight goals in a span of only four minutes to take a commanding 6-0 lead. North Central would be unable to muster any offensive opportunities the rest of the game. Subsequently, the Rams fell 6-0 to the Yellowjackets.
