Minneapolis, MN -- The women's soccer team from North Central University (NCU) returned home today to host the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles. In their previous match hosted at Northwestern, the Rams suffered a 3-0 loss to the Eagles. Today's match was originally scheduled for October 19th; however, due to injuries and illnesses, the Rams rescheduled their second match against the Eagles for this afternoon. Still recovering from these setbacks, NCU would be able to play the full 90 minutes. Ending in the 74th minute, North Central would suffer a 6-0 loss at the hands of UNW.
The first half saw UNW take control early in the match. After the Eagles consistently fired shots towards the Ram's fill-in goalkeeper,
Tayler Boudreaux, they made their first goal of the game in the 12th minute. Sophomore defender
Chloe Bjorlin anchored the Rams' defense in her first action in over 6 weeks. Boudreaux was able to make several saves following the initial shot from UNW, but the Eagles scored another goal in the 22nd minute. This was shortly followed by a third goal in the 24th minute of the match, bringing the score to 3-0. Rounding out the first half of the match, the Eagles scored a fourth goal off of a corner kick, bringing the first 45 minutes to a close with a score of 4-0 heading into halftime.
As the second half began, both competitors added some fresh legs to the field as they returned from a halftime break. Boudreaux provided Rams several saves in the second half, but the Eagles continued to compete by cashing in on a goal in the 57th minute of the match. The scoring concluded in the 74th minute with a final point from UNW, bringing the score to 6-0 to end the match.
Tayler Boudreaux had a total of 14 saves during the match, where she was under fire from start to finish. North Central lost 6-0 in the 74th minute.
