Naples, FL -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team concluded its spring break Florida trip with two games against the Bears from St. Joseph's University Brooklyn (SJUB) and the Red Devils from Eureka College (EC). The Rams dropped game one to St. Joseph's by a score of 16-2 and would go on to drop their second game to Eureka with a final of 14-4.
Game 1: NCU 2, SJUB 16
St. Joseph's got on the board right away taking a 2-0 lead over North Central in the top of the first. The Rams shutout the Bears in the second, but would be unable to hold them down for the rest of the game as St. Joseph's ended the game with 16 runs on 20 hits. NCU's offense was held to just two runs each coming in the fifth and the sixth. Katelynn Fox singled up the middle in the fifth to score Ramiyah Words. In the sixth, Kelsey Henninger scored Sydney Carlson after reaching on an error. In the end, the Rams fell to the Bears by a final score of 16-2.
Game 2: NCU 4, EC 14
In game two, the Rams started on the right foot, putting up a crooked number at the top of the first. Isabela Gallardo scored on a wild pitch to give North Central an early 1-0 lead. Maci Tripp then singled up the middle to score Fox making it 2-0. A passed ball from the Red Devils would then plate Aurora Prettyman to give North Central a 3-0 lead early.
In the bottom of the second, Eureka would be able to plate 2 runs to cut the Rams' lead to one. In the home half of the third, the Red Devils scored four funs to overtake NCU with a score of 6-4. Eureka went on to score 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 14-3 lead over North Central. In the top half of the fifth, Gallardo scored on a passed ball to make it 14-4. However, the Rams were unable to score any more runs to continue the game and were defeated by the Red Devils by a final score of 14-4.
