Roseville, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team began Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play today as they took on the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles after coming back from their spring break trip in Florida. The Rams hoped to start conference play on the right foot, but the Eagles had other plans. In the end, UNW defeated NCU with a final score of 30-1.
The Eagles jumped out in front right away as they scored 9 runs on 8 hits in the home half of the first inning. UNW continued their hot streak at the plate as they scored 13 runs in the second, 4 in the third, and 4 in the fourth. In the end, the Eagles totaled 30 runs on 33 hits and 4 Rams' errors.
North Central was able to score a run off of Delaney Riddle's single up the middle that scored Kelsey Henninger from third. However, that would be the only run that the Rams could push across as they dropped to 0-1 in UMAC play by a final score of 30-1.
