Roseville, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team resumed Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play today as they finished their three-game series versus the University of Northwestern (UNW) Eagles. The Rams would be swept by the Eagles losing game one 26-2 and game two 18-3.
Game 1: NCU 2, UNW 26
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board as they had themselves a 14-0 lead after the first. The Northwestern offense overwhelmed the Rams as UNW scored 26 total runs off 25 hits and 4 errors by the Rams. NCU was able to score two runs in the top of the second inning as Maci Tripp grounded out to plate Aurora Prettyman and Kara Lewis grounded out to score Maggie Kohl. However, Northwestern's pitcher held North Central to just those two runs. In the end, the Rams fell in game one 26-2.
Game 2: NCU 3, UNW 18
Northwestern would get on the board right away in game two as they jumped out to an 11-0 lead after the first two innings. The Rams were able to put up two runs in the second off Isabela Gallardo's first home run of the season. NCU would be able to score once again in the fourth as Karmen Dotson scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-3. Unfortunately, the Eagles would plate seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 18-3 as the Rams fall to 0-6 in conference play.
