Rockford, IL -- This Saturday afternoon, North Central University (NCU) Women's Soccer traveled to Illinois to take on the Rockford University (RU) Regents. Today, North Central saw strong performances from their pair of goalkeepers, who totaled 13 saves. However, the Rams struggled to create scoring opportunities as they were outshot by the Regents 21 to 9. Rockford won this match 2-0 to hand the Rams their fourth consecutive loss.
Junior
Renae Juni got the start in net for the Rams. The first half was rather uneventful for the Rams' offense as a lone shot on goal by team chaplain
Madeline Lowe in the final ten seconds was the only time NCU sniffed a scoring opportunity. On the flip side, Rockford totaled 8 shots, 6 of which were on target and Juni corralled all of them. The first 45 minutes ended with no score.
In the second half, the teams picked up offense as North Central totaled 8 shots and Rockford fired 13 total shots. NCU's first scoring opportunity came off the first of sophomore
Paula Capili, but would be denied by the Regents' goalkeeper. In the 55th minute, RU opened up the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. After this initial goal, North Central made a goalie change as
Erma Ramirez took to the net for the second game in a row.
Renae Juni finished the afternoon with 7 saves and a .875 save percentage. Just 9 minutes later, Rockford scored again to double their lead at 2-0. Ramirez had a solid showing in goal as well as the junior totaled 6 saves in just 32 minutes Unfortunately, NCU's offense was unable to find the back of the net and Rockford got the 2-0 victory

Next, women's soccer enters Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competition with a road game against the University of Wisconsin-Superior next Wednesday, September 18th. This match will kick off at 4:30 PM.
