Superior, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team made the trip to Superior, Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) Yellowjackets. NCU would have their hands full tonight facing off against the reigning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Champions. Last season, the Rams were shut out in both meetings and tonight was no different. UWS won by a final score of 10-0 in a one-sided affair.
Junior
Renae Juni got the start in net against the Yellowjackets. It didn't take long before the first goal of the night was scored, as UWS found the back of the net in the 6th minute. The Yellowjackets scored again in the 34th minute to increase their lead to 2-0. North Central struggled to keep the ball out of their defensive half, as the Yellowjackets racked up 18 total shots in the first 45 minutes. Given the amount of pressure put on by UWS, Juni was able to turn away 10 shots in the first half. Unfortunately, NCU got nothing going offensively as they were unable to record a single shot. Superior held on to a 2-0 advantage heading into the break.
North Central made some personnel adjustments to start the second. As
Erma Ramirez entered the goal, NCU was flooded with an onslaught of offensive firepower from the Yellowjackets. Superior totaled 20 shots and 8 goals in the second half. Sophomore defender,
Ramiyah Words fired the Rams' lone shot on goal late in the second, but would be denied by the UWS keeper. North Central suffered the 10-0 defeat to the reigning conference champions.
