Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Women's Soccer held their season opener on this beautiful September Saturday as the Rams hosted the Faith Baptist Bible College (FBBC) Eagles. Faith Baptist made the trip from Ankeny, Iowa, to Minneapolis to compete in today's game. In their matchup last season, the Eagles got the better of the Rams with a 7-1 victory. Although there was overall improvement by North Central, the Rams still could not overcome the Eagles as FBBC won by a final score of 3-1.
Faith Baptist came out aggressive offensively as they fired 5 shots early. NCU also got some offensive action from Ramiyah Words and newcomer Paula Capili with a pair of shots on goal. The Eagles found the back of the bet in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. The Rams would not be able to penetrate the Eagle's defensive front as they only had one additional shot on goal the rest of the half. However, Faith Baptist totaled 15 shots, 5 of which were on target. Junior goalkeeper Renae Juni totaled 4 saves in the first half of action. The Rams trailed 1-0 heading into the break.
In the second half, the Eagles were able to double their lead with a sky shot that ended up in the goal to make it 2-0. The pace of the game slowed as both teams showed signs of fatigue. Faith Baptist took 6 shots to North Central's 3 in the second half. FBBC held on the lead for the rest of this one as the Rams took their second loss of the season.
