Rams Battle Through Elements at the Gene Glader Classic

Arden Hills, MN -- Saturday, the North Central University (NCU) Track and Field teams competed at the Gene Glader Classic Meet hosted by Bethel University. Today's cold, rainy mid-April event was cut short due to the weather, limiting opportunities across several events but still producing solid efforts from the Rams.

Sprints:

On the women's side, junior sprinter/jumper Deshawna Hodges led the way in the 100m dash, clocking a time of 13.76 seconds in challenging conditions. Sophomore hurdler/jumper Joyce Horton added a strong showing in the 100m hurdles prelims, finishing in 17.39 seconds (4th in UMAC). Sophomore sprinter/jumper Lily Ciske posted a 1:10.46 in the women's 400m (10th in UMAC).

On the men's side, sophomore sprinter/jumper Josh Hinson highlighted the group with a 52.44-second finish in the 400m (5th in UMAC), while freshman distance runner Emmanuel Benitez also competed in the event with a time of 1:00.76. In the 100m dash, senior sprinter/jumper Jaquan Adams led North Central with an 11.97-second finish, followed by freshman sprinter David Diamond at 12.20 seconds. Freshman sprinter/jumper Owen Ellefson (12.73 seconds) and freshman sprinter/jumper Jalen Dourisseau (12.89 seconds) added depth for the Rams, while freshman sprinter/jumper Tony Abourjeily rounded out the group with a 13.49-second finish.

Distance:

Junior hurdler/sprinter Connor Yslas turned in a steady performance in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 4:57.38 despite the weather impacting race conditions.

Throws:

The women's throws group was led by senior thrower Jackie Lindsay, who recorded a mark of 23.79m in the javelin (7th in UMAC). Fellow senior thrower Aleysha Will added a throw of 8.15m in the same event.

On the men's side, sophomore thrower Colton Hagen competed across multiple events, posting a javelin throw of 34.09m, a shot put mark of 9.86m (7th in UMAC), and a discus throw of 30.10m. Senior thrower Andre Muteba also contributed in both throwing events, recording 31.35m in discus and 9.10m in shot put.

Jumps:

Senior sprinter/jumper Jaquan Adams led the Rams in the long jump with a mark of 5.61m (9th in UMAC). Freshman sprinter/jumper Jalen Dourisseau followed closely with a personal best leap of 5.43m (10th in UMAC), highlighting one of the top individual performances of the day for North Central. Tony Abourjeily also added a mark of 4.70m in the long jump.

Looking Ahead:

Up next, NCU will compete at the Gustie Twilight Meet hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday, April 15th. The meet will take place inside the Gustie Track Complex in St. Peter, MN.
