St. Peter, MN -- Wednesday, the North Central University (NCU) Track and Field teams competed at the Gustie Twilight Meet hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. The Rams were highlighted by a record-breaking performance from senior thrower
Andre Muteba, who set a new program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.03m while placing 4th overall. North Central also saw multiple top-10 finishes and personal bests across the meet, including sophomore
Joyce Horton recording a PR in the triple jump, sophomore
Josh Hinson and junior
David Bjorge each posting season-best times on the track, and sophomore
Leighton Helander turning in a personal best in the 1500m to lead a strong showing from the distance group. Muteba (hammer throw), Hinson (400m), and Horton (triple jump) have now all qualified for the 2026 NCCAA National Championship Meet.
Sprints:
The women's sprints group was led by sophomore hurdler/jumper
Joyce Horton, who turned in a season best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.11 seconds.
On the men's side, freshman sprinter
David Diamond led the way in both the 100m (12.31) and 200m (24.91), while freshman
Owen Ellefson followed closely in the 100m with a time of 12.77 seconds. In the 400m, sophomore
Josh Hinson posted a top-10 finish, placing 7th overall with a season-best time of 51.12 seconds, continuing his strong outdoor campaign.
Distance:
In distance events, freshman
Claire Nelsen highlighted the women's efforts with a 6th-place finish in the 5000m, crossing the line in 26:42.58.
For the men, sophomore
Leighton Helander delivered a standout performance in the 1500m, placing 8th overall with a personal best (PR) time of 4:38.49. Junior
David Bjorge added depth to the event with a season-best (SB) time of 5:14.30.
Throws:
The women's throws group saw senior
Jackie Lindsay lead the way in the javelin, placing 6th overall with a mark of 25.59m.
On the men's side, senior
Andre Muteba put together a historic performance, setting a new school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.03m to place 4th overall. Muteba also recorded a personal best in the discus (32.89m). In the javelin, freshman
Kaden Dunton led the Rams with a throw of 36.41m, followed by freshman
Nathan Splinter (29.38m), junior
Connor Yslas (27.53m), and freshman
Ari Pierson (26.16m).
Jumps:
The women's jumps group was highlighted by sophomore
Joyce Horton, who recorded a personal best (PR) in the triple jump with a mark of 10.64m, placing 5th overall.
Relays:
The men's 4x100m relay team of senior
Jaquan Adams, freshman
Jalen Dourisseau, freshman
Tony Abourjeily, and freshman
Owen Ellefson delivered a strong performance, placing 5th overall with a time of 46.81 seconds.
In the mixed 4x400m relay, the team of freshman
Nathan Splinter, sophomore
Lily Ciske, freshman
Jalen Dourisseau, and sophomore
Joyce Horton competed well, finishing in 4:37.55.

Up next, NCU will compete at the Carleton Relays hosted by Carleton College on Saturday, April 18th. The meet will take place inside the Laird Stadium in Northfield, MN, starting at 11:00 AM.
