Mankato, MN – North Central University (NCU) Softball opened its UMAC road series against the Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) Vikings on Friday evening, battling through a tough contest that saw the Rams collect just one hit. Despite the result, North Central showed moments of resilience defensively and continued to compete inning-by-inning throughout the matchup.
North Central looked to find early momentum at the plate, but the Rams were met with a strong opposing arm that limited opportunities. Freshman outfielder
Abi Rogers delivered the lone hit of the game for NCU, lacing a single in the third inning to give the Rams their best scoring chance. Rogers' knock, paired with an error that allowed another baserunner, briefly put pressure on the defense, but the Rams were unable to capitalize. In the circle, graduate pitcher
Alley Fleener worked through traffic across 5.2 innings, striking out four while facing a lineup that applied consistent pressure. Fleener navigated multiple innings with runners on base, stranding several and inducing key outs to limit extended rallies.
