Mankato, MN -- Wednesday, the North Central University (NCU) Track and Field teams competed at the Stomper Open Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota State, Mankato. Today's meet was highlighted by multiple personal-best performances and a pair of top-10 finishes.
Sprints:
Sophomore hurdler/jumper
Joyce Horton led the way for the Rams, placing 9th overall in the 400m with a time of 1:06.54, securing a top-10 finish (8th in UMAC). Earlier in the day, Horton also clocked a 13.66 in the 100m prelims (10th in UMAC). Sophomore sprinter/jumper
Lily Ciske added a 14.14-second finish in the 100m prelims, contributing to a solid showing in the short sprints.
Senior sprinter/jumper
Jaquan Adams paced the Rams in the 100m prelims with a time of 11.28 seconds (5th in UMAC). Freshman
Owen Ellefson followed with a 12.52-second mark. In the 200m, freshman sprinter/jumper
Tony Abourjeily ran a 26.94, rounding out North Central's efforts in the sprint events.
Distance:
Freshman distance runner
Claire Nelsen competed in the 800m, crossing the line in 3:09.86 to represent the Rams in the middle-distance field.
Sophomore sprinter/distance athlete
Josh Hinson led North Central in the 800m with a time of 2:07.48 to place 10th overall (8th in UMAC). Freshman distance runner
Emmanuel Benitez followed with a personal-best performance of 2:15.58. In the 1500m, junior distance runner
David Bjorge posted a time of 5:19.38 to round out the distance group's performances.
Throws:
Senior thrower
Caleb Lundt highlighted the throws group with a runner-up finish in the javelin, placing 2nd overall with a mark of 41.84m (4th in UMAC), securing one of the Rams' top performances of the day. Senior thrower
Andre Muteba also competed in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 36.75m (8th in UMAC).
Jumps:
Freshman sprinter/jumper
Jalen Dourisseau led the Rams in the long jump with a mark of 5.06m, followed by sophomore jumper
Cameron Stout, who recorded a 4.09m effort.
Looking Ahead:
Up next, the Rams continue their outdoor season at the Gene Glader Classic on Saturday, April 11th. The meet, hosted by Bethel University, will take place inside the Royal Fieldhouse in Arden Hills, MN.
