St. Paul, Minnesota — The North Central University Rams volleyball team faced off against Northwestern on Tuesday night, entering the match with a 4-4 record. Despite a tough night, the Rams continued to battle through all three sets, ultimately falling to the Eagles, 0-3 (10-25, 4-25, 15-25).
Set 1: 10-25
North Central had a difficult opening to the match but began to find its footing with a kill from Autumn Kaczmarek. Despite the Rams' efforts, Northwestern maintained a strong lead throughout the set. NCU finished the opening set with five kills and a .034 hitting percentage.
Set 2: 4-25
The Rams came out strong in the second set with an early kill, but Northwestern quickly gained momentum with a six-point run. After an Eagles error gave NCU an opportunity to respond, Northwestern answered with another six-point run. The Rams continued to fight through the set, finishing with two kills and a -.174 hitting percentage.
Set 3: 15-25
After a difficult second set, the Rams returned to the court with renewed energy. Northwestern opened the set with a four-point lead, but NCU fought back and battled for every point through several rallies. The Eagles eventually created another run, but the Rams continued to push, putting together a three-point run of their own. Northwestern ultimately closed out the set, 25-15, securing the 3-0 victory.
The Rams showed improvement offensively in the third set, recording eight kills and a .031 hitting percentage.
