LAKEVILLE, Minn - The North Central University (NCU) men's tennis team was in action on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match with Bethany Lutheran College (BLC). The Vikings of BLC narrowly defeated the Rams by a score of 5-4. The loss moves NCU to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in UMAC play.

Rodrigo de Mendoza paced the Rams today as he won his singles match up against Nico Martinez Biali in the No.4 singles match. Mendoza won 6-1 and 7-5 in straight sets. In the second set, Mendoza was down 2-5 before charging back and taking the match. Micah Peterson and Judah Smith each fought hard but had a tough time as they were both defeated in straight sets as they played in the No.1 and No.2 matches for the Rams.

Danny Williams continues to play well for the Rams in the No.5 spot. Williams won in straight sets 7-5 and 6-1.  Josiah Williams earned the win in the No.6 matchup. Williams dropped the first set 3-6 before winning the second 6-3 to force a tiebreaker in which he won 10-4.

In the doubles matchups BLC would take the first two matchups. Micah Peterson and Josh Ekong played in the No.1 doubles match, Noah Ramsby and Rodrigo de Mendoza played in the No.2 doubles slot. Danny Williams and Ken Schrock would win in the No.3 matchup. Williams would go 2-0 on the day as he won his singles and doubles matches for the Rams.

NCU will have a quick turnaround as they will head south to Iowa on Tuesday, March 25 for a pair of non-conference matches against Simpson College and Grand View University. The Rams will take on NAIA, Grand View University at 1:00 p.m. and will face Simpson College at 4:00 p.m.
