Box Score 2 SUPERIOR, WI. – North Central University (NCU) traveled across the border on Saturday afternoon to battle Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) foe, the Yellowjackets of Superior Wisconsin. The Yellowjackets entered today's contests having won their previous ten games, and they showed no signs of slowing down. After the Rams scored the first run in game number one, Superiors scored nine unanswered runs en route to their 9-1 victory in game number one. Game number two was all Superior as they opened up the game in the early going, pulling away for the 14-2 win in game number two and the series sweep.
GAME ONE RECAP
Pitcher, Emma Bushey, got the Ram's offense started early as she helped her own cause by batting in a run in the top half of the first frame to take the 1-0 lead. The Rams produced two hits in the inning, both doubles, but that was all the offense the Rams could muster throughout the ball game. After letting the Ram's get to her in the early going, Yellow jacket's starter Ashley Taipale dialed in on the mound to the tune of 10 total strikeouts her 6.0 innings pitched. As the Ram's offense fell silent, the Superior offense continued to hum as they scored the final nine runs in the ball game after falling down 1-0. Emma Bushey suffers the loss for the Ram's as she could not find an answer for the Yellowjacket's who continue to stay hot from the plate.
GAME TWO RECAP
The Yellowjacket's kept the heat on in game number two from the first pitch as they exploded in the first frame with eight runs on eight runs. NCU answered back with a run of their own in the second frame, but they could not find a way to slow down the Superior offensive attacked as they continued to pile on runs as the Yellowjackets pushed their lead to thirteen in the third inning, their largest of the ball game. Emma Bushey produced a base knock that scored a run in the top half of the 5th inning, but it was not enough to extend the game as the Rams fell 14-2 in five innings.
