Box Score 2 MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – North Central University (NCU) was in action once again from Xcel Park Field on Saturday afternoon, this time facing off against the Cougars of Minnesota Morris. The two are very familiar with each other as they battled in a two day, six game, series earlier this season. The Cougars got the best of the Rams again in this one as they came away with two Upper Midwest Athletic Conference victories, 4-1 and 15-7.
GAME ONE RECAP
Emma Bushey got the starting nod in game number one for the Rams and she got comfortable in the early going as she worked to keep the Cougars scoreless through the first few innings. The Cougars finally broke the scoring silence in the top half of the 3rd frame to take the lead and due to the Rams inability to manufacture run support, they did not relinquish the lead for the duration of game one. NCU got one run back late in the game, but could not quite mount a comeback as they suffered a narrow 4-1 loss.
GAME TWO RECAP
The second game saw somewhat of an offensive explosion for both clubs. The outburst of runs was led by the Cougars who topped 15 runs on 12 total hits throughout the ball game. NCU made a late game surge producing seven runs to close the gap, but Morris continued to answer with their own counter punch as Morris pulled away for the 15-7 victory. Ali Cornelius received the start for NCU as she suffered the loss in 7.0 innings pitched.
