MONMOUTH, Illi. -- The North Central University (NCU) lacrosse team took a trip to Illinois to face off with Monmouth College (MMC). The Rams scored the most goals in a single game in the season in this matchup, but ultimately lost to the Scot's 23-4.
Game Recap
MMC opened up the first period with eight unanswered goals. The Rams were able to get quite a few shots off, but they were either wide or were saved by the Scot's goalkeeper. The second period is when NCU turned their shots into goals, four to be exact. The first came from
Jackson Smith (Chanhassen, MN) in the 12th minute. The Rams then capitalized on a man-up opportunity after an illegal body penalty on MMU and
Corey Evers (Granger, IA) scored his first goal of the season just two minutes after the first goal and was assisted by
Smith. NCU threw shot after shot at the Scot goalie and another one found the back of the net, again by
Smith. The Rams finished the second period by another goal from
Evers, going into the third period down by nine points.
The possession of the last two period was very back and forth with both teams seeing some decent shots. Attackers
Smith and
Jaydon Crim (Hudson, WI, Hudson High School) along with
Evers,
Isaac Griffin (Lakeville, MN),
Tommy Fox (Springfield, VA, Homeschool), and
Keegan Gare (Lakeville, MN) all aimed shots at the MMU goalkeeper. However, none of these shots were converted into goals for the Rams. Instead, the Scots were the team to convert shots into goals and scored a total of ten more goals in the last two periods, winning the game 23-4.
The Rams fall to 0-5 on the season still searching for their first win.
