Men's Track and Field

Track and Field back in action at the UWRF Winter Classic

River Falls, WI -- Both the men's and women's track and field teams were back in action Saturday (2/11) at the UWRF Winter Classic. This was the first meet for North Central (NCU) since returning from winter break and just the second meet of the season. 

Sprints:

Action started on the track with the 60-meter dash. Serena Lanes led the way for the Rams with a time of 8.8 seconds. Later, Lanes would come back later to lead the way for the Rams in the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.40. For the men, Jackson Omeja ran the 60m in a time of 7.45 which was enough to qualify him for finals later in the day. He would come back in finals to run a 7.39 which was good for 6th overall. Omeja would also compete in the 200-meter dash later in the day, running a 24.22 finishing tenth overall. Also, running the 200m for the men was Derek Burgin and Elliott Lebsack. Burgin and Lebsack finished in times of 24.28 and 24.59 respectively. In the 400-meter dash, Esther Johnson would put up the top time for the NCU Women finishing in 1:07. Benjamin VanWyk had the top spot for the Ram men in 1:00. 

Distance:

The distance runners got underway running the 1 mile run. Elizabeth Lofstad would win the event for the women by over 20 seconds running a 5:32. Kayley Hyland would finish the mile in 6:33. Garrett Converse finished the mile in 4:57 which was second in his heat and 7th overall for the men. Converse would come back later in the day to run the 800-meter run in 2:17. 

Throws:

In the weight throw, Micayla Jones had the top mark at 9.01 meters for the NCU women. Jones would come back to throw a distance of 9.26m in the shot put. Gideon Heng hit a mark of 11.64m in the weight throw and then 12.79m in the shot put, leading the way for the Rams in both events. 


Jumps:

On the women's side of the jumps, Lofstad made her way to the pits to hit a mark of 9.30m in the triple jump. For the men, Isaac Weiers would hit a mark of 5.62m in the long jump. Weiers would come back later to high jump to hit a height of 1.81m. Hitting the same mark of 1.81m was Nehemiah Juaire

Looking Ahead:

The Track and Field team will be back in action next weekend at the Bethel Invite on Saturday (2/18).
