Janesville, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) Men's Golf team kicked off the 2025 season at the Culver's Edgewood Classic hosted by Edgewood College. This invitational is in its 22nd year and attracts a very competitive field of NCAA Division III teams with numerous schools qualifying for the NCAA National Championships. After two rounds of gold, the Rams posted team scores of 308 (+24) and 312 (+28) to finish tied for 11th place overall. 
 
What began as perfect golf weather quickly turned into a cold and rainy day in Janesville. The Rams wrapped up round one of the Culver's Edgewood Classic in 8th place out of 21 teams, finishing with a team score of 308 (+24). Leading NCU was sophomore Hector Avila, who carded a 73 (+2) to sit in a tie for 12th among the 110 golfers in the field. Fellow sophomore, Greg Salinas, followed closely behind with a solid 75 (+4), leaving him tied for 24th. Newcomers Joe Stanton and Kaden Dunton rounded out the scoring for NCU, each posting rounds of 80 (+9) to finish the day tied for 60th overall.

NCU returned to the course for round two on Saturday. Hector Avila once again paced the Rams, finishing with a 76 (+5) in round two for a two-day total of 149 (+7), tying for 20th place individually. Avila dropped slightly after his strong opening round but still closed as NCU's top finisher. Joe Stanton showed the biggest jump on day two, improving by three strokes with a 77 (+6) to total 157 (+15) and climb six spots into a tie for 54th. Kaden Dunton improved on his round one score by two strokes to post a 78 (+7), totaling 158 (+16) and holding steady in 59th place. Greg Salinas, after a solid first round, struggled a bit in round two, posting an 81 (+10) and finishing at 156 (+14). Together, the Rams' consistent efforts across both days secured their place in the middle of a competitive 21-team field.
