WINONA, Minn.-- Women's Tennis got their competion schedule off and running on Friday. The Rams traveled to Winona to take on Saint Mary's University where they were shutout by the Cardinals.
North Central faced a St. Mary's (6-7) team 13 matches into their schedule at Winona Tennis Center and it showed in a near-straight set win for the host.
Sophomore Sierra Hunter (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) was able to win a game in number two singles but fell, 6-0, 6-1 in the match. Freshman Nicole Swanson (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) posted the Rams most game victories in the sixth singles spot in a 6-2, 6-1 defeat. Swanson and junior Linnea Madsen (Whitefish, Mont./Polson) also grabbed a few games but fell 8-2 in the number three doubles pairing.
North Central will continue their season with their conference and home opener next Saturday. NCU is scheduled to host Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) for a 5 p.m. match at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley.
