MINNEAPOLIS-- Women's Tennis got its first singles and doubles wins of the year against Bethany Lutheran on Saturday but it was not enough to score a team victory. The Vikings defeated the Rams 6-3 at Lifetime Fitness-Fridley in the UMAC opener for both teams.
Junior Jaila Cappelli (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and sophomore Madalyn Meetz () posted the Rams first doubles win of the year against Bethany Lutheran at the top doubles spot with an 8-5 victory.
Cappelli carried that momentum over to the second singles match where she also won in a tight 7-5, 4-6 (12-10) tiebreaker. Sophomore Sierra Hunter (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) took the fourth singles match 6-4, 7-5. Madalyn Meetz nearly took the top singles spot but fell 3-6, 6-4 (10-4).
North Central will take on Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.) in a non-conference match on Monday. NCU will host Crown at 7:30 p.m. at Lifetime Fitness- Lakeville.
