FRIDLEY, MN - The North Central University women's tennis team opened their 2019 campaign with a non-conference dual against Bethany Lutheran College. Despite many great matches the Rams fell by a score of 7-2 to the Vikings. The Rams dropped five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
Freshman
Anne Clarke made her collegiate debut with a dominant win for NCU in the third singles spot. Clarked defeated Leah Schaefer of BLC 6-0, 6-1.
Nicole Swanson had a hard fought loss in the fourth singles spot as she won 7-5, lost 6-7 (9-7 in tiebreakers) and then lost the tie breaker set 13-11.
Erin Oellerich also had a very close loss in the sixth singles spot as she fell 2-6, won 6-2 and then lost the tiebreaker 10-8.
Clarke continued her winning ways as she and
Emily Loop competed in the second doubles spot and defeated Emma Carmichael and Leash Schaefer 8-4 for the Rams other win on the day.
NCU will be back in action on Tuesday February 19th at 1:30 p.m. as they will host Martin Luther College for a non-conference matchup in Lakeville, MN.
