ST. PAUL, Minn -- After a year and a half long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the North Central University (NCU) men's and women's golf teams officially got back into action on Friday. The Rams hosted the University of Northwestern (UNW) St. Paul Eagles and Crown College (CC) Storm at Les Bolstad Golf Course, apart of the NCU Triangular that teed of each of the three schools' 2021 spring seasons.
Men's Individual Results
After putting together a strong opening performance on day one, the men's team managed to take first with a four-person total team score of 326 (+42). The Eagles came in second just behind the Rams with a score of 329 (+45), followed by the Storm who put up a 336 (+52) on the day.
- In his collegiate debut for North Central, Jacob Sweeney (Madera, CA, Liberty High School) was instrumental to the Rams taking first on the day. The true freshman placed first and carded a 76 (+5) on the round, including 12 pars and a birdie on hole six.
- Returner Isaac Wright (Waupaca, WI, Waupaca High School) followed closely behind Sweeney and finished second individually overall, carding a round of 78 (+7).
- Asher Wright (Wapaca, WI, Wapaca High School), Dylan Crowson (Phenix City, AL, Central High School), and Chase Drill (Chanhassen, MN, Augsburg College) rounded out the scores for NCU with an 84, 90, and 88.
Women's Individual Results
Several new additions to the NCU women's golf team took place during the offseason, many of which made their collegiate golf debuts on Friday, including head coach
Paul Brunner. The Eagles managed to take first overall on the day by combining for a four-person score of 405 (+121).
- Sophomore returner Sarah Haglund (Buffalo, MN, Homeschool) was joined by first-year golfers Jayda Peterson (Princeton, MN, Princeton High School), Eden Weber (Dawson, MN, Dawson-Boyd High School), and MiCayla Jones (Chicago, IL, De La Salle Institute), where they placed second overall in the Triangular.
Looking Ahead
North Central men's golf will look to keep their momentum going into their next matchup. In a quick turnaround, the team will travel to Stockton, Illinois to compete in the Loras College Spring Invite in a two-round affair on Saturday and Sunday of this weekend. NCU women's golf will prepare to compete in the
